Programme Bookfest City: Written from afar
Friday 16 October at 20:00 h.
Speakers: Fernando Aramburu y Rosa Ribas.
Fernando Aramburu and Rosa Ribas are Spanish writers living in Germany for different reasons. Aramburu’s book Homeland became instantly a national and international success because of the way it describes the atmosphere of a small village in the Basque country during the existence of the Spanish terrorist group ETA. Rosa Ribas has created Inspector Cornelia Weber-Tejedor, half German, half Spanish, working for the Frankfurt police department and moving between two cultures to solve crimes.
Does living outside Spain provide them with more perspective to deal with national issues? What is the influence of Germany in their books and in their lives? What is their creative process, do they write with a reader in mind? And do they miss mingling with the Spanish literary scene? These are some of the questions we will discuss in the conversation with these authors, who will read fragments of their work.
Face-to-face event from the Instituto Cervantes in Frankfurt. Registration with the FBM required
