Ignacio Elguero

Director of Education Diversity Culture and International of RTVE

Ignacio Elguero (Madrid, 1964) is a journalist and writer. He holds a degree in Media Studies from the Complutense University of Madrid and is currently Director of Education, Diversity, Culture and International of RTVE, to which he has been linked for over two decades.

Among other posts and duties, he has been director of Programmes, director of Radio-1 and of the literary programme La estación azul. He has received numerous awards during his career, including the Ondas Prize in 2002, a Special Mention at the Ondas Internacional 2010, the National Reading Promotion Prize 2011, the Spanish Association of Publishers Guilds Reading Promotion Prize 2012 and the Antena de Oro 2018 Prize.

As a writer, Elguero has specialised in generational non-fiction narratives, with ¡Al encerado! Un interesante y divertido retrato de los colegios de los años 60, 70 y 80 (Planeta, 2011), Los niños de los chiripitifláuticos (La Esfera de los Libros, 2004) and Los padres de Chencho (La Esfera de los Libros, 2006).

He is also author of the books of poems Siempre (Hiperión, 2011), Materia (Hiperión, 2007, winner of the International Claudio Rodríguez Prize 2006), El dormitorio ajeno (Hiperión, 2003), Cromos (Huerga y Fierro, 2000) and Los años como colores (Huerga y Fierro, 1998). He has published a number of anthologies of poetry for young people: 33 de Radio 3 (Calamar Ediciones, 2004), Periféricos. 15 poetas (Universidad Popular San Sebastián de los Reyes, 2004) and Inéditos. 11 poetas (Huerga y Fierro, 2002).

In addition, he has written the novel Leif Garrett en el dormitorio de mi hermana (Planeta, 2014).
