María Fernanda Ampuero


María Fernanda Ampuero (Ecuador, 1976) is a writer and journalist. Her chronicles have been published in media such as Gatopardo, Anfibia, Internazionale, Piauí, Quimera and El País.

In 2012 she was elected one of the most relevant Latin American women in Madrid.

Her first book of short stories, Pelea de Gallos (Páginas de Espuma, 2018) is now in its seventh edition and has been translated into several languages, among them in English as Cockfight (Feminist Press at The City University of New York, 2020).

It was chosen by The New York Times in Spanish as one of the ten books of the year.

Her new book, Sacrificios Humanos (Páginas de Espuma, 2021) is in its second Spanish edition and has been published in independent editions in Ecuador, Argentina, Mexico and Colombia.
