María Folguera (Madrid, 1984) is a writer, playwright, stage director and cultural manager.
She is author of the novels Hermana. (Placer) (Alianza, 2021), Los primeros días de Pompeya (Caballo de Troya, 2016) and Sin Juicio (Visor, 2003), which won the Arte Joven 2001 Prize.
She edited the anthology of short stories Tranquilas. Historias para ir solas por la noche (Lumen, 2019) and has premiered theatre texts such as Elena Fortún for Spain’s national theatre Centro Dramático Nacional (2020), or La guerra según Santa Teresa for the Festival de Otoño de Madrid (2018).
She also directed Celia en la revolución for the Centro Dramático Nacional in 2019. She has received numerous awards for fiction and theatre.
Since 2018 she has been artistic director of the Circo Price Theatre in Madrid.
