María José Gálvez has a graduate degree and doctorate in Law from Valencia University. She is Director General of Books and the Promotion of Reading at the Ministry of Culture and Sport.
Previously, she has held the position of editorial and training director for the publisher Tirant lo Blanch.
Before this she was advisor for the First Deputy Prime Minister’s Office and deputy director of the Prime Minister’s Office in the Congress of Deputies. She has also worked as assistant at the European Parliament.
She has worked as an associate professor of Constitutional Law at Carlos III University of Madrid and as tutor at Universitat Oberta de Catalunya and the Spanish National Distance Education University (UNED). Gálvez has also had study placements at the University of Padua, Italy, and carried out pre-doctoral research in the universities of Harvard, Pisa and Vrije Universiteit Brussel.
