Marta Fernández

Journalist

Marta Fernández (Madrid, 1973) is a journalist and a writer. She studied Journalism at Complutense University of Madrid. and began her career at Diario 16 and TVE.

In 1997 she appeared in front of the cameras for the first time on Telemadrid. Two years later, she became part of the CNN+ breaking news channel when it was created. She remained there until 2007. That year, she joined the Italian group Mediaset, where she took charge of the midday news programme for Informativos Telecinco. She remained in Mediaset until 2016 as presenter of the current affairs and special news programmes Informativos Telecinco and Noticias Cuatro.

She contributes regularly to the cultural magazine JotDown and to La Ventana on Cadena SER. After two years working on the features section of El País, in 2020 she returned to TVE on the programme A partir de hoy. She also works regularly as an MC for cultural institutions such as Fundación Telefónica and the Museum of Human Evolution, and with companies like Netflix, Paradores, Banco Sabadell, Penguin Random House or Conde Nast.

She has published two books: Te regalaré el mundo (Planeta, 2014) and No te enamores de cobardes (Círculo de Tiza, 2021), although her most outstanding literary activity has been as advocate of Thomas Pynchon on this side of the Atlantic.
