Rocio Bonilla

Writer and illustrator

Rocío Bonilla (Barcelona, 1970) is a graduate in Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona. She began to work as a painter, muralist, photographer and teacher.

Fascinated by children’s imagination, in 2011 she entered the world of publishing as an illustrator and debuted as an author in 2014 with the illustrated book Cara de pardal / Cara de pájaro (Animallibres, 2014).

Among the children’s books she has published so far are What Color Is a Kiss? (Charlesbridge Pub, 2016); The Highest Mountain of Books in the World (Peter Pauper, 2016) and T’avorreixes, Minimoni? / ¿Te aburres, Minimoni? (Animallibres/Algar, 2019), which she both wrote and illustrated. She has worked with writers such as Elisenda Roca, Susanna Isern and Eulàlia Canal.

She has received numerous awards for her works, including the Children’s Serra d’Or Critics’ Prize, the Libro Kirico Children’s Literature Prize and the Prize from the best published books of 2015 from the Ministry of Culture and Education.

In 2021 she published A dinar! / A comer! (Animallibres, Algar), which belongs to the series Babymoni, and in 2022, La colla dels 11 / La pandilla de los 11 (Bromera / Algar).
