Violeta Monreal

Illustrator

Violeta Monreal (Oviedo, 1963) is an illustrator. After graduating in Fine Arts, she travelled to New York where she worked with the United Nations illustrating projects and with companies designing tarot cards.

She combines her work as an illustrator and a writer of short stories with giving talks as a specialist in children’s illustration for specialised institutions, local corporations and schools, as well as publishers. She coordinates practical and theoretical workshops to promote the creativity of teachers and students across Spain.

She is author of works such as No quiero un dragón en mi clase (Anaya, 2001), Días de gatos (Anaya, 2002), Imperfectas (San Pablo, 2020), Madres del mundo (Everest, 2020), Lluvia sucia (Everest, 2021), La montaña furiosa (Everest, 2021), Formas encantadas (Anaya, 2021) and La ciudad sin pájaros (Everest, 2021). 

She has received numerous awards during her career, such as the 26th Book Fair Prize for her work promoting children’s and young people’s books (2002) and the CCEI Illustration Prize 2011 for 16 pintores muy, muy importantes.
